Yellow Sand is our most widely used sand product. It is also known as C-144 Sand.

Yellow Masonry Sand can be used for residential and commercial applications. This is a common sand that has a variety applications from cement/mortar mixing, soil amendment, to commercial construction. Our yellow sand's technical name is C-144 sand. This is a standard set by the ASTM ( American Society for Test and Materials). The ASTM, located in Conshohocken Pennsylvania, publishes a a consensus of technical standards for a vast array of materials and more. In their classification C-144 sand allow for a greater grain size of 1.75-2.93. For a finer masonry sand try our Bar Sand.

Yellow sand versatility makes it great solution for bedding sand. Industries C-144 is used in the dairy farm industry, pipe bedding in the plumbing industry, gas line pipe bedding, and sometimes for fresh water beaches, etc. It is also an excellent certified sand for the sand mound and sewer industry.

2A Modified Stone

2A Modified Stone
2A Modified Stone has high compaction and thus little drainage. This stone is an excellent choice for patio bases.

2A modified stone is 2" and below. The stone has sand and dust mixed in to provide a thick compaction base. Standard paver patios call for a base of 2A modified stone 4 inches thick. Make sure to compact with a tamper every two inches. Driveways call for a base 10-12 inches thick.

Because of its dusty nature, 2A is fairly easy to dig and move with a shovel. Make sure to dump large loads on a tarp, the dust can diffuse into the ground in event of a rain storm.

2B Stone

2B Stone
Pictured here is 2B being used on a small retaining wall in Harrisburg Pa. The clean fill acts as a drainage barrier behind the wall.

2B Stone is a 2” clean stone. Due to its minimal compaction this stone is an excellent choice for drainage.

Most commonly 2B is used for driveway applications, shed bases, and drainage stones. This is the proper stone to be used in a French Drain. Other uses include base stone for retaining walls, as well as drainage stone behind retaining walls and under sheds. Use our geotextile filter fabric for drainage applications.

2B is also sometimes refereed to as #57. Some commercial projects use it for grading concrete, water and sewer lines, ditches, driveways, and many other ditch and non-ditch projects. It contains minimal fines therefore it does not compact and allows for drainage.

1B Stone

1b Stone
1B drainage stone.

1B stone is the smaller cousin to 2B stone. This is a clean fill stone used to pour behind retaining walls.

1B stone is a 1inch clean fill stone. The smaller size lets allows the user to pour the stone in tighter gaps. This is a Builder's favorite when back filling behind a concrete retaining wall. If you need assistance choosing between 1B and 2B please contact us to discuss your jobsite.
